Waziri Umaru federal polytechnic is a federal owned polytechnic that is owned and controlled by the federal government of Nigeria. The polytechnic was established in 1976 based on the edict that was passed by the federal government.

Waziri Umaru federal polytechnic was formerly known as Sokoto college of Technology before it was transitioned to serve as polytechnic following its upgrade in 1980.

Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic was initially located in Fafaru, Sokoto State, before it was moved to Birnin Kebbi in 1980; that was the same year the school was upgraded from college to polytechnic.

Formally Owned by the state government the polytechnic was handed over to the federal government for management and control in 2007 and has been under federal government control since then.The transfer of ownership of the institution also brought the change of the name of the institution.

Waziri Umaru Polytechnic is grounded on its mission to produce qualified technicians and technology through training and retraining of personnel that will serve the country well.

Waziri Umaru federal polytechnic Hostel Fees

Hostel are available in Waziri Umaru federal polytechnic for interested students who intend to stay in the school premises and they are affordable.

Hostel fees in the institution depends on the kind of hostel you want whether it is the new hostel or the old hostel,the indication is that both of them are affordable.

For the old hostel the hostel fee is N20,00 only while the new hostel fee is N30,000 plus additional N1,000 for POBICON.
