The idea for the establishment of a federal polytechnic in Daura was birthed by the idea of the late Senator Mustapha Bakar Madawakin Daura in the Green Chamber, but he was unable to fulfill this dream when he died while still in office.

After the death of Senator Mustapha Bakar Madawakin Daura, his colleagues took it upon themselves to make sure that the dream was achieved, promising that they would make sure that the bill was passed, and thus on 5th July 2019, by the effort made by Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita, the bill was passed following the approval by the President of Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari.

On 27th May 2020, the management team was appointed under the directive of the federal Ministry of Education under the guidance of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), appointing management leaders including the rector, Aliyu Mamman, registrar Rabiu Muhammad Danmalam, and others.

Members of the management team started academic operations on Monday, 1st June 2020. The following months after academic activities commenced, visits were made by stakeholders and also the governor of Katsina State.
