Ramat Polytechnic Maidguri is a state polytechnic that is located in Maidguri, Borno State. The institution was established in January 1973.

Ramat Polytechnic began in 1973 when it was newly established as Government Technical College by the state government of North Eastern State then. In 1978 the institution saw an upgrade from being a technical college to being a college of technology and was renamed after the late military head of state Muritala Mohammed.

In 1979 the institution was fully upgraded from its college status to polytechnic as a result of the initiative of the government to transition all colleges of education into polytechnics.

In the academic session of 1982/1983, Ramat Polytechnic, Maidguri, began its school system in accordance with the polytechnic system. The institution started with 300 students, commencing its operation in 1978, and the polytechnic is proud to boast over 5,000 students for the 2025/2026 session and over 30,000 graduates.

Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri offers full-time and part-time courses in the National Diploma program, Higher National Diploma, and also the Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCEE). The polytechnic also awards certificates in various courses in the institution.

● HND candidates are required to have a national diploma in relevant fields with a minimum of a lower credit than 2.50 CGPA and above.

● HND candidates are required to have at least one year of cognate work experience for ND and 2 years or more of work experience for those with an HND pass.

● ND candidates are required to have not less than five credit passes in their WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB in not more than two sittings.
